Via Ferrata – Fortica (Mostar)
Via Ferrata Fortica is situated just above the city of Mostar, traversing the rocky cliffs that are one of the city’s most striking natural landmarks. The approach to the ferrata is straightforward, following the road that connects the city to the Podveležje karst plateau. Additionally, access to the ferrata is possible by descending a 570-meter-long zip line.
While on the ferrata, you’ll enjoy unique views of Mostar, the Old Bridge, and the surrounding mountain ranges. For the more adventurous, there is a suspension bridge to cross as part of the ferrata. On the return journey, you’ll encounter a military fortification from the Austro-Hungarian period, which is typical for Mostar, a city known for its numerous fortifications dating back to the Ottoman era. These historical remnants highlight the strategic importance of Mostar throughout its history.
